Position: Rural Practice Surveyor
Key Skills
Valuations
Specialising in the valuation of all types of rural property and assets. Experience in valuations for taxation, probate and secured lending. Experience of valuations of leaseholds and in particular, valuations for enfranchisement. Experience of live and deadstock valuations.
Property Management
Experience in management of both rural and commercial property including lettings, building maintenance and supervisions and negotiating and liaising on landlord and tenant issues.
Grants and Subsidies
In depth knowledge and wide experience of:
- Single Farm Payment - Entry Level Scheme - Higher Level Scheme - Organic Entry Level Scheme - Uplands Entry Level Scheme - Woodland Grant Schemes - Countryside Stewardship Environmentally Sensitive Area Schemes
Landlord and Tenant
In depth knowledge of Landlord and Tenant issues relating to Farm Business Tenancies, Agricultural Holdings Act Tenancies, Residential Tenancies and Commercial Tenancies. Wide Experience in the preparation of tenancy agreements, resolution of disputes, rent review, dilapidations and repairs notices, notices to quit, succession and tenancy surrenders.
Strategic Business Management and Recovery
In depth knowledge of financial budgeting and accounting. Experience of business and financial management. Skills and experience in identification of business strategy and advising on future management. Specific experience in farm business management and strategic planning.
Compensation and Compulsory Purchase
Experienced in negotiating with acquiring authorities with all aspects of Compulsory Purchase and Compensation particularly wayleaves, easements and compulsory land acquisition. Wide experience in negotiating and managing compensation claims on behalf of land owners and occupiers affected by water pipelines, electricity and gas mains and compulsory purchase schemes.
Experience
Experience of working with land agency firms throughout Northumberland and Durham. 2½ years with a Northumberland firm of Chartered Surveyors and Land Agents. Joined George F White in January 2009 as a Rural Practice Surveyor.
Education & Qualifications
University of Newcastle upon Tyne - BSc (Hons) in Countryside Management. Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester – MSc in Rural Estate Management. Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Fellow of Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.
Background
Son of a second generation North Yorkshire/Teesdale farmer, remaining actively involved in the family farm.
