Class Q

Class Q- what is it?

Class Q Permitted Development allows the change of use of agricultural buildings to residential. It allows the conversion of up to five dwellings via a prior approval application. Class Q applies to all types of agricultural building, including traditional stone and modern portal frame structures.

Ideally to benefit from Class Q the building should have:

  • At least three sides
  • A complete roof
  • A 'solid' or concrete floor and;
  • Is capable of conversion

If you have a redundant or under-used building on your farm please call our planning team on 0333 920 2220 for a free initial discussion.

How we can help?

We can guide you through the permitted development process. From an expert initial feasibility through to design, planning submission and marketing for sale (or undertaking the conversion works), we can deliver competitive and quality services at every stage.
