Elliot Taylor, Partner and Farm Business Consultant has an extremely interesting 24 hours attending two of the key knowledge sharing events for the agricultural industry; the Low Carbon Agriculture 2023 show held at NAEC, Stoneleigh and the 10th anniversary BASE-UK conference.
“Talking about the Low Carbon Agricultural 2023, Elliot said; “This is a key business event that showcases low carbon practices, technology, any energy solutions for farmers, with the aim of promoting a profitable and sustainable farming future. Key areas of discussion included:
· - Assessing the risk, rewards and levels of responsibility
· - Concerning habitat management and opportunities for farmers
It is clear that there are opportunities, but it is clearer that those opportunities need to be careful assessed and the devil will truly be in the detail. It is likely that payments for farmers to increase ecological habitats will continue to grow in popularity, however, it is important to remember that every farm is different and what works for one farmer will not work for another. Having independent representation on a contractual level and having good access to advice will be vital in achieving the right outcome for your business.”
Elliot was also delighted to accept the invitation to attend the 10th anniversary BASE-UK conference in Nottingham.
He explains: “BASE-UK was founded in 2012 and is a farmer led knowledge exchange organisation for individuals interested in regenerative agriculture and passionate about the sustainability, health, and growth of our soil and therefore our industry.
BASE stands for Biodiversity – Agriculture - Soil – Environment and the UK group was formed to run in parallel with the innovative and influential group started in France.
It was interesting to discuss the principles of carbon management, regenerative agriculture, and the many ways to increase soil health.”
Carbon management, biodiversity enhancement and improving soils are some of the hot topics being discussed by many farmers at present. The George F.
