Farming Minister Victoria Prentis announced this week that a new dairy response fund will open for applications on Thursday 18th June 2020.
With some dairy farmers facing financial difficulties and excess milk due to the coronavirus outbreak, the new fund will provide up to £10,000 each to help those dairy farmers most in need of support to sustain their business.
The funding, which will be paid out from Monday 6th July 2020, aims to assist farmers to maintain their production capacity without impacting on animal welfare, following reduced demand for milk products due to the reduced demand from restaurants, bars and cafes which have had to close as a result of lockdown restrictions.
Farmers who qualify are able to apply for support to cover up to 70% of their losses due to the disruption across April and May, up to a total amount of £10,000 each.
