Development GFW 20th August 2020

The planning system has recently hit the press with the Government’s publication of their consultation document ‘Planning for the Future’. The degree to which the proposed radical changes materialise will remain to be seen, but things are going to change.

It is encouraging to see that there is a greater emphasis on recognising quality development, simplifying the planning process, and trying to remove some of the hurdles that cause frustration throughout.  However, there are concerns over the potential for increased landowner contributions for affordable housing and infrastructure.

As the headlines fade and the Government proposals get watered down, our advice is clear: Consider your options now, agree on a strategy and a budget to suit you, then act and respond appropriately.

The last major change in 2012 saw significant opportunities for our client base and those who were best prepared made the most of the opportunities.

In response to the consultation, we are currently offering a free planning appraisal service to clients with land and property which may have development potential, identifying development potential and suggest strategies for making the most of the forthcoming changes.

To arrange your free appraisal, please click here to provide your name, contact number, and details of the property and a member of our specialist planning team will be in touch.
