Jamie Oliver appointed member of the new Register of Sheep Advisers

Rural GFW 8th December 2021

Jamie Oliver, Farm Business Consultant, has been accepted as a full member of the newly created Register of Sheep Advisers (RoSA).

RoSA has been set up as a branch of BASIS and the NSA created to "support a CPD programme for sheep advisers to ensure sheep farmers can access the best and most appropriate advice for their businesses so they are prepared for any upcoming opportunities and challenges".

As well as being a Farm Business Consultant within our Rural team Jamie has always been involved in farming, with his father, grandfather and great grandfather all working as shepherds across North Northumberland. This led Jamie to be hands on involved with sheep from a young age, ultimately leading to him working in the livestock sector as a self-employed farm worker up until he joined George F. White.

Working within the farming sector for a number of years has allowed him to see many different farming systems, styles and practices which has all broadened his knowledge and understanding of the sheep sector. This has tied in well with his current small flock of Texels, which he is always looking to expand and improve; as well as him still undertaking 3 weeks of night lambing for a local farmer. When not working or playing rugby, he can regularly be seen at local marts, agricultural shows and sheep events as; like the rest of his family; sheep and farming is a big part of his life.

Jamie will provide support across the North East, North West and Scotland specialising in offering advice on subjects such as environmental schemes, non-farming enterprises, business benchmarking and business planning.

"I am pleased to have been appointed to RoSA, to be able to provide advice and services to sheep farmers throughout the region and combining my hands on experience with my consultancy knowledge. It's a pivotal moment in farming across the UK and professional and practical advice will be key for farmers to make the appropriate decisions in these changing times" said Jamie.

Contact Jamie on 07595 057140 or speak to any of our Rural team on 0333 920 2220.
