Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the scrapping of the remaining sections of the HS2 project quickly followed by a series of promises to fund infrastructure projects across the country.

£36 billion of HS2 allocated funding will now be reallocated to fund several transport and infrastructure projects across the North of England and this includes the A1 dualling project.

The long running saga of dualling the A1 had recently taken a negative turn with the announcement in early September that any decision to proceed would be delayed for nine months until 5th June 2024. Now in the outfall of the HS2 announcement it would appear the green light is shining brightly on the project.

The George F. White rural team is helping clients throughout the 13 miles stretch of the A1 (Morpeth to Ellingham) that is destined to be dualled in the forthcoming years.
