Within George F. White we are very proud of our core values which seek to provide a strong platform for individuals to both contribute to the business and also develop themselves. On International Women's Day we caught up with a few of our residential agency team and posed the following questions:
Melissa Lines, Senior Associate / Branch Manager & Valuer
What message would you give to women who are interested in starting a career in property?
"The property and construction industry is still a largely male dominated industry, however in my 26 years of selling property, I have noticed a huge shift in recent years in senior positions taken up by women. Take for instance our Operations Director and Partner Sally Hart who joined GFW in 2014 and was the first female Equity Partner. A great role model and inspiration. I think it is important to have a good male/female balance in property women are naturally good at multi tasking and in a challenging sales environment can manage many difficult situations with tact and diplomacy."
Anna Haney, Sales Negotiator
What attracted you to working for GFW?
"Going through the house purchasing process for the first time ignited a passion for property that I didn’t know I had and now, four months into my new career, I am so excited to be selling houses in the city of Durham where I grew up!
Sally Hart, Partner / Operations Director and Head of Agency
What would your advice be for a woman looking up the career ladder?
"I truly believe that you define your own success; if you have a strong skill set and ambition then it is all about finding the opportunity or business that will support your development and growth. We should be very proud of the support network that exists for both business women and men in the region; it is right that we actively encourage and champion one another."
Today we celebrate all of the extraordinary women who work within George F. White team.
